July 26, 2011 - I guess a lil bit of a personal post + #charityTuesday

I feel like a bucket of lame for not posting in over a month. Not because y’all are terribly interested in the minutia of my life, but because I’ve encountered some incredible people/companies/things in the past month and I feel like blogging has given me a way to say thank you to those folks. And well, I haven’t really been saying thank you as much as I’d like! That’ll change now that I’ve gotten into a tiny bit of a groove with work, so for now, a lil bit of a personal post with some #charityTuesday undertones. heh

So what’s with the picture? Well it’s my little corner at MassChallenge (@masschallenge), where my new company Vsnap (@vsnap) will be til October. Since I’ve posted and tweeted and chatted about my job hunt, you bet there’ll be a post about how I found my job. :) Anyway…

  • The painting is by Taj Campman (@tajcampman). I bought it from a Kick for Nick fundraiser a few years ago. This being #charityTuesday on the Twitters, a quick plug for KfN… it’s an incredible cause honoring Private Nicholas Madaras and his love of soccer by distributing soccer balls to children in Iraq. Definitely check out their story.
  • I got the lil envelope in the right hand corner while I was working at Emerson (@EmersonCollege). I was an advisor for an Alternative Spring Break trip in DC and at the end of the trip we, the students and my fellow advisor Elin, wrote anonymous notes to each other. Along with the notes being super sweet, I think it was the first time as an adult that I really considered myself a responsible adult. I was 24. haha
  • The orange is from crewing the Komen 3 Day (@the3day) in Boston this weekend. That’ll get its own separate entry. :) #charityTuesday
  • My old roommate Cabul gave me that little black elephant when he went to Africa. I forget if he was there for business or just a visit (he had been in the Peace Corps) but elephants are supposed to be good luck
  • That piece of black & white striped paper is the schedule for vitaminwater uncapped (@vitaminwater post via Antler Agency @AntlerAgency). We recently filmed the season finale of the web show I co-host, Why Not Boston (@WhyNotBoston), in that space and there are some really cool events there til the end of July. Also, if you head into the space you’ll see an awesome wall of Ray Allen’s shoes (from all of the most important games of his life, Celtics and otherwise) and you can donate to his foundation, Ray of Hope. RoH supports community and sports related programs. #charityTuesday

A lil more of a personal post this time round because, well, why not? haha That was not a plug for my show, but it is a theme in my life lately.
