#CharityTuesday Roundup - April 26th

Another week, another roundup. :)

I’ll be bopping around town this weekend… helping at the Bacon & Beer Festival (sadly sold out, but benefits Lovin’ SpoonfulsCommunity Servings, and Share our StrengthSaturday morning then off to Dash for a Difference with Boston Cares (@BostonCares) in the afternoon. On Sunday, I’ll be at the Walk for Hunger (@WalkForHunger) as a walk marshall from 6:30-10AM. I even told a volunteer coordinator downtown that I’d help with a load in at 6AM on Monday. My unemployment is clearly benefitting quite a few people. ;)

Oh and did you know that Earthworks is sorta back? If you hadn’t heard of them before, they were an amazing organization that helped take care of the urban orchards/wilds in Boston. Thanks to them I discovered some okra and raspberry plants in front of an elementary school! I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty exciting to me, 1) Because I yearn for some green in the city 2) Kids are learning that growing food is fun (and delicious). Earthworks folded last year due to lack of funding, but thankfully people have stepped up and they’ll now be taken care of by the community, Boston Cares, and the Boston Natural Areas Network. For more info contact volunteers@bostoncares.org or info@bostonnatural.org

I didn’t tweet a lot of links today but…

* Thursday, April 28th * #Boston If you’re planning on eating dinner on Thursday, you should check out Dining Out For Life (@dine4lifebos)! :) 25% of your bill will go to AIDS Action (@AIDSaction). There are about 20 awesome restaurants in Boston and beyond that are participating. Chickcheckitout.

* Wednesday, May 4th * The #Boston Independent Film Festival (@IFFBoston) will be screening Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop. As someone who caught Conan while he was on tour this summer, I’m super stoked for this documentary. Yes, I had a small poster of him (well his milk ad) on my wall when I was younger. A percentage of the ticket sales will go to the Cardiology Clinical Research Fund at Children’s Boston. Advanced ticket sales are now closed according to @IFFBoston, but there will be some rush tickets the night of. You should also just head to IFF (4/27-5/4) and support indie flicks even if you can’t make the Conan screening. I’ll be there for opening night (4/27) to see Being Elmo thanks to @YelpBoston

By the by, for you folks on the Twitter (and even folks that aren’t), I have a MA volunteer list. Most of the places on that list I’ve worked with/volunteered for/etc so if you have any questions, please let me know.

Happy Spring volunteering! :)

*Picture is mine. No finger puppets were hurt during the shoot.
